My Story
My career in higher education began with a simple question I kept hearing from students: “What am I going to do with this?” I was drawn to career development because it sits at the intersection of curiosity, identity, and possibility—and because the right experience at the right time can change a student’s trajectory. Something that has been a theme in my early experience.

Early in my career, I worked directly with students who were undecided, overwhelmed, or unsure how their interests connected to the world beyond college. As a counselor and instructor, I learned the power of listening, asking thoughtful questions, and helping students name what they value. Those experiences shaped my student-centered approach and continue to ground my work today.

Over time, my focus expanded from individual advising to building programs that create opportunity at scale. I became especially passionate about experiential learning—internships, cooperative education, and other hands-on experiences—because I saw how transformational they can be. Experiential learning gives students a chance to test ideas, build confidence, and connect learning to purpose. It also gives institutions and employers a way to meaningfully invest in the next generation of talent.

For more than two decades at the University of South Florida, I’ve had the opportunity to grow alongside the institution, taking on increasing leadership roles within the Center for Career & Professional Development. In my current role as Associate Director for Experiential Learning, I lead campus-wide initiatives, supervise a talented team, and collaborate closely with faculty, academic leadership, employers, and community partners. Much of my work centers on designing intentional, inclusive experiential learning programs; supporting faculty and employers in best practices; and ensuring these experiences align with both student needs and institutional priorities.

What continues to motivate me is not just program growth or recognition, but impact. I’m energized by moments when a student connects classroom learning to real-world work, when a faculty partner sees experiential learning deepen engagement, or when an employer realizes the value of mentoring emerging professionals. I believe strongly in thoughtful design, collaboration, and continuous improvement—and in meeting students where they are while helping them imagine what’s possible.
At its core, my work is about connection: connecting students to opportunity, learning to practice, and education to the world beyond campus. That purpose has guided my career, and it continues to shape the way I lead, collaborate, and serve.

When I’m not working, I recharge by spending time with family, reading on my Kindle, and enjoying time in parks like Disney and Universal—experiences that reflect my curiosity, creativity, and appreciation for well-designed experiences.
